Patience: A Heavenly Virtue
Share
Scripture: Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
"For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to 1 plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to cast stones, and a time to gather stones; a time to embrace, and a time 2 to refrain from embracing; a time to seek, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; a time to tear, and a time to sew; a time 3 to be silent, and a time to speak; a time to love, and a time to hate; a time for war, and a time for peace." 4
As scripture says, there is a time for everything. This can be a difficult concept to grasp, especially in the face of challenges or times of anxiety. However, we can't forget God's timing is perfect and he always has our best interests in mind.
When times are tough, it feels like God has abandoned us. Do not waste your time feeling guilty. That's what grace is for. Our job is to listen and wait on him. We must trust that He is working all things together for our good (Romans 8:28).
You've heard that patience is a virtue, right? What we forget to remember is that patience is not simply a virtue. It is a heavenly virtue. A virtue passed to us from God when we need it most.
So today, trust in God's timing. Worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. Be patient and wait for His perfect will to be revealed in our lives. And let us remember that even in the midst of our struggles, God is always with us.
